The silver dollar fish is native to South America, and although it is named after a small coin, these fish can grow up to more than six inches long. In addition, the silver dollar is a fish very suitable for community life, being able to develop with six or more individuals, since they tend to sail in schools to feel more secure. Although the silver dollar fish is generally friendly towards other fish, they can be very aggressive at feeding time. They are strictly vegetarian fish, and as a result of this tendency, they generally feed on the living plants that accompany our aquarium. Along with the plants, however, the silver dollar fish also easily consumes a wide variety of flake foods, pellets and frozen products.
