    It is a very adaptable fish and an ideal inhabitant for the community aquarium as long as there is enough space to swim. Given its way of life, it is not very apt to cohabit with shy or small fish species, it does not feel comfortable in small aquariums and it loves the currents in the water. It is a cardfish fish and must be composed of 5 individuals or more. It prefers to occupy the intermediate region of the tank, but also collects food from the surface and the bottom. In freedom it usually swim in shallow waters attached to the muddy substrate, almost like a bottom fish.

    Description

    Under ideal conditions, it should be carried out in a breeding aquarium with a gradual increase in water temperature, and soon they will start laying eggs. A breeding pair can be moved to the breeding tank, but good results have also been obtained by mating a male with several females at a time. Given their tendency to cannibalism, parents should be removed from the breeding aquarium immediately after spawning. The female releases up to 150 eggs that hatch in about 36 hours. In another 24 hours the larvae will be able to swim by themselves. The fry should be fed micronized dried food and / or freshly hatched brine shrimp nauplii.
